About Tobaksfakta think tank

Tobaksfakta was founded in 2010 and is an independent, non-profit organisation with 15 national member organisations. Our work is based on the WHO’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, FCTC. We work to increase knowledge of and commitment to the Framework Convention among decision-makers and society at large. The goal of Swedish tobacco and nicotine policy changed in 2024 from  “reducing tobacco use” to “reducing the medical and social harms” of tobacco and nicotine products. The objective differs from that of the Tobacco Convention and was questioned by some opposition parties.
