Everyone's right to information about tobacco and nicotine, and the tobacco industry, is a fundamental principle of the WHO's International Tobacco Control Convention . The Tobacco Control Convention has strong links to the UN conventions on human rights and is a cornerstone of Tobacco Facts' work, as is the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the 2030 Agenda. Tobacco Facts' commitment is based on concern for human health and a sustainable future.
An important milestone is to reduce smoking to below five percent in all population groups by 2025 so that it is no longer a dominant public health problem. This goal has been named Tobacco Endgame – Smoke-Free Sweden 2025 and is the unifying vision for a broad public opinion campaign supported by organizations, authorities and companies throughout Sweden. Another important goal is to protect children and young people from nicotine addiction.
Tobaksfakta wants to arouse commitment for continued reduction of tobacco use and nicotine addiction in the population. We spread knowledge about tobacco and nicotine, the consequences of nicotine addiction and highlight the methods of the tobacco industry. We also want to arouse opinion in order to influence public health policy. Funding
Tobacco Facts' work is financed by organizational grants from the government funds allocated by the government for associations that primarily conduct tobacco prevention work. Tobacco Facts also seeks funds from regions, foundations and funds to finance our basic operations. Member organizations contribute an annual fee.
