The tobacco industry claims that heated tobacco products (HTPs) are safer than cigarettes, but the studies on the products are inadequate, according to a new study from the University of Bath.
The study , published recently in the BMJ's Tobacco Control, found that 29 of the 40 publicly available clinical trials for HTP were affiliated with or funded by the tobacco industry. Most of the available clinical trials were also assessed as having a high risk of bias based on their methodology and study design choices.
